Normally we are presented with a view of the superstars through the portal of our nation's press. These images invite the public to fantasise their dreams, hopes and aspirations towards what is essentially a fake view, a sugar-coated reality. In Ann's paintings, she turns and twists our visual impressions and thoughts, confronting us with a different image, one with warts and all.
Issues of sexuality and gender are of particular interest to her.
Ann has exhibited as a British Young Contemporary at the ICA and recently in Brighton, London and New York.
Part of the Steel City GALA Arts Festival
