Open call for an Artist in Residence 2019

Access Space is looking for an artist to be resident for ten days between the dates 15 July and 2 August 2019.

Deadline for applications is Sunday 2 June 2019 at midnight BST.

The successful artist will receive a fee of £2,000 GBP.

This is an open call.

We have hosted a wide variety of residents in the past and are open to ideas, particularly those which explore art’s permeable boundaries and emerging artforms.

You will be able to use our main space and foyer for periods during the residency. We also have access to other spaces  for exhibitions or performances.
Access Space also has Refab Space, probably the first artist run maker space in the UK, with a laser cutter and cnc router, digital embroidery machine, vinyl cutter, workbench facilities,hand tools, Arduinos and electronics which you will be welcome to use to create anything for your work.

We would like you to give a talk about your work near the end of your stay and document the residency online. Please also tell us what the proposed outcome of the residency is e.g. a performance, artwork, exhibition, document, event of some kind etc.

Although the 10 days need not run concurrently they will need to be between the dates 15 July and 2 August 2019. Please note that this time period is not flexible.

We will provide self catering accommodation free of charge, and a contribution toward travel if needed.

Please note that we usually have a large number of submissions, so if you don’t make the short list it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good proposal!

This residency will be part of the Access Space Arts Programme for 2019-2020 beginning in June, funded with public money through an Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant.
